Sonyeon (소년 少年), or Youth, is Korea’s first modern magazine founded in 1908 by Choi Nam-seon (최남선 崔南善, 1890–1957). As Choi believed that youth were the leaders of the new era, he founded this magazine to enlighten them. The magazine consists of diverse content, including poetry, biographies, anecdotes, history, geography, natural science, and short stories. The magazine was written mostly in Hangeul to make it more accessible to young readers.
